Okay, so I like my Mac cheesy! This is by far, the cheesiest Mac & Cheese you’ll find, with 5 different types of cheese. As they used to sing in that Diary Farmers Real Cheese commercial from the 80’s “Cheese, glorious cheese!” Also, I’m showing my age with this one, but who remembers that Saturday morning PSA from the 70’s: “Hankering for a hunk-a, a slab, a slice, a chunk-a, Hankering for a hunk of Cheese!” This mac and cheese is rich and creamy, and a great comfort food!
Ingredients:
16 oz. Elbow Macaroni
2 cups Milk
12 oz. can Evaporated Milk
2 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded and divided
1 cup Gruyere, shredded
1 cup Kerrygold Dubliner Irish Cheese, shredded
1 cup Mozzarella, shredded
8 oz. Cream Cheese, cubed
1 tsp. Salt
½ tsp. fresh cracked Pepper
½ tsp. Ground Mustard
A few shakes of Hot Sauce (i.e. Frank’s, Texas Pete, etc.)
1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs
Directions:
Combine all the ingredients, except one of the cups of cheddar cheese and breadcrumbs, in the 6 qt. crockpot, cover and set to “low” for 3-4 hours. Stir throughout cooking time to combine ingredients. 30 minutes before serving, mix breadcrumbs with remaining cup of cheddar cheese and spread over top, replace lid and heat until cheese is melted.
